What arrives
State of the Bay is a two to three page PDF on one waterbody, by email, weekly. The pilot report reads five indicators against what is happening in your waterbody, says what each read is based on and how confident it is, and closes with what to watch in the week ahead.
- Growth conditions Water temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll as a proxy for food, compared against previous years.
- Rainfall closure risk Recent and expected rain, and the subsequent freshwater input.
- Biotoxin early warning Phytoplankton monitoring and the conditions that precede a bloom.
- Vibrio early warning Water temperature against the thresholds where vibrio risk climbs.
- Sanitary closure risk (fecal coliform) Sanitary survey history and the freshwater inputs that move it.
Narrative text is generated by an AI model from documented measurements. Reports describe conditions; they do not predict closures, and they are not a closure notice.
